KUNDALINI YOGA
gives overall well-being
Kundalini yoga is a relatively easy but powerful form of yoga. It affects your body and mind but especially your soul. Well, the soul cannot be affected but let's say, it brings your awareness towards your soul. The aim is to become aware first of yourself, then of the environment and finally of the Universe. Kundalini yoga releases blocks from the body and mind and you begin to see challenges as opportunities.
The year 2023 starts with an online course, focusing on the basics. First month concentrates on the physical body and the back area as well as breathing exercises. After that, the focus is on meditation and finally overall well-being. Theory is also going to be presented.

What is yoga and kundalini yoga?
Yoga is an ancient method to exercise the body, mind and soul. It originates from India and is thousands of years old. The word 'yoga' means union (in Sanskrit 'jug'). The goal is to connect the "lower" and "upper" aspects of our being. Yoga is suitable for everyone, regardless of age or gender. The yoga practitioner works with him-/herself according to his/her own skills or condition, and the instructor's job is to create a warm, supportive and safe space.
Yoga is helpful in many ways. It increases physical fitness, vitality and general health. It improves mobility, flexibility and muscle strength. It gives tools for relaxation and proper breathing, both of which reduce stress. Yoga increases concentration and guides you towards peace of mind and inner silence, shuniya. In addition, inner silence enables conscious presence. Yoga also provides a foundation to grow spiritually. As a result of regular training, you have a deeper self-knowledge and a more balanced everyday life.
Kundalini yoga has been a sacred and secret science until Yogi Bhajan brought it to the West in 1969. He started teaching it to everyone. The word "kundal" means 'curl of a beloved's hair'. Kundalini energy refers to the inner power that rests in our pelvic floor. When this energy awakens, consciousness expands.
The basic idea of kundalini yoga is to do physical exercises (kriya) and meditations that prepare the body for the rise of kundalini energy. In fact, the purpose of the kriyas and asanas is to prepare the body and mind for meditation. Kundalini Yoga is a precise technology and therefore a certain kriya and meditation are always performed in a same way. With regular practice, you ensure that your body and mind are ready for the rise of kundalini energy. Each kriya affects the body, mind and consciousness differently. Energy is controlled by movements, mantras, breathing techniques (pranayama), body locks (bandhats) and hand positions (mudras). Variations for the movements are given, and therefore physical restrictions do not prevent training.
The spiritual aspect brings you in touch with the original source, G.O.D., or cosmic energy; G = generate, O = organize, D = deliver. When all obstacles are removed, human being becomes a creator from a pure source. The goal is to find the instinctive, intuitive self that works in unison with infinite consciousness.

Vocabulary
Yoga
In Sanskrit 'jug'. Yoga aims to unite our "lower" and "higher" aspects of being.
union
Asana
A position where the whole body is somewhat involved. An asana is used to isolate or pressurize certain muscles and areas of the body, and, depending on its effect, to direct, flush or increase circulation in other areas. Asanas prepare for meditation.
position
Kriya
A series of specific asanas and exercises combined with breathing, bandhas and mudras. It is a precise and perfect technology that has a special effect on the psyche, body and the self. The structure of each kriya is designed to create, organize and deliver/destroy (G.O.D.).
action
Bandha
Bandhas are used to direct prana and apana to specific parts of the body. Bandhas 'collect' the effect of the exercises and then enabling the body to reach balance. The meaning of the locks is to change blood circulation, pressure in the nervous system and the flow of cerebrospinal fluid.
lock
Mudra
A hand position used in meditation and practice. They are used to concentrate and direct the body's energy flow. Receptors in the hand have connections in specific parts of the body and brain and are therefore linked to emotions and behavior.
hand gesture
Mantra
Sound vibration that resonates in the body both physically in the meridian points of the mouth, and through sound vibration. A mantra has a 'naad', an essence that comes from its energetic form, rhythm and pitch. When recited correctly, the mantra activates areas of the nervous system and brain and gives the opportunity to change the state of mind. "man" means mind and "tra" means wave or movement.
mantra, wave
Meditation
A process of deep concentration or merging into a state of consciousness or an object. Meditation develops the neutral mind; promote mental clarity, awareness and ability to be present; releases reactions and unconscious habits, subconscious fears and obstacles.
Sat nam!
'Satnam' means our true identity. It is used at the end of the exercise to seal the exercise; often during movements quietly in your own mind, and as a greeting, where it means "I salute the real truth in You". It is so-called seed mantra.
